No, the height of cage with rod adapter cannot be reduced or adjusted.
Can I mount follow focus /matte box on it.

Yes, You can use the mattebox and follow focus with this cage but you need to buy the rod adapter with this cage in order to use the matte box and follow focus with this cage.
Will it fit to sony A7S ?
